You’ve heard this movie is terrible by now………………..and it’s true. HOWEVER, I still laughed like an idiot through the whole thing. You can’t take something like this seriously. You have to just laugh at the ridiculousness of it and appreciate that these characters are screwed up and live unbelievable and unrealistic lives that are hysterical to witness.
Other than the fact that it has all the same people in it, this does not feel like a Hangover movie. It has decided to go with an entirely different plot that feels more like a dark action movie than a raunchy comedy. I think it would work more if it were a stand alone movie, rather than the third installment of a trilogy. However, it still has its moments of hilarity. Mostly thanks to Ken Jeong, aka Leslie Chow, our favorite “little” Asian freak show. His voice alone is enough to laugh out loud about. He pretty much steals the show. The movie really should have been called The Hangover: Rise of Chow.
As for our other favorite boys……….I was never a HUGE fan of Bradley Cooper, but he got hotter. Or maybe I’d just been staring at Zach Galifawhatever too long. So there is some incentive for the ladies. Ed Helms and Zach Galifawhatever are just as hilarious and ridiculous as ever. Many characters from the original Hangover return, including Heather Graham, baby “Carlos”, and Black Doug. It is a nice little reunion for fans of the first two movies.
There are definitely some things in this movie that could have been left out. I’ll just say………….I’ll never look at giraffes the same way. Or Ed Helms without a shirt. It gets pretty insane. At one point I thought one of the character’s was having a dream sequence, but nope. It was real life. Real movie life that is.
Overall, if you liked the first two movies, you’ll most likely enjoy the third one in some way. It is not a complete waste of time. Definitely don’t take anyone with you who has never seen the first two though. You should go to this movie purely to have a good time. Whether you laugh because it is funny, laugh because it is stupid, or laugh because it is uncomfortable, you will laugh. I went to a late show and there were probably four other people in the theater……….and we still managed to fill the theater with our laughter.
