When there is nothing to rent, or I have already seen all the new releases, or I am finally all caught up with TV shows……………..I turn to Instant Netflix. Sometimes I watch something again, or watch about 20 minutes of a movie until I get bored with it and move on. And sometimes there are those rare gems that surprise you…………..the most recent one for me is The Man From Nowhere.
Because I went into this almost blind, I will try not to give away too much plot. Basically, it is the story of a mysterious hot Asian man who befriends an adorable child, then when that child gets kidnapped, he becomes a badass hero who beats the crap out of people for two hours. It is similar to Taken and Man on Fire, and just as good.
The acting was surprisingly great for an action martial arts movie. Even the little girl gave a good performance. The fight scenes were insanely awesome………..and there were lots of them. Gun fights, knife fights, car fights…………yeah. And each one was choreographed spectacularly. Not only was the movie worthy of its action category, it was also a very powerful drama. I found myself tearing up quite a bit.
Do yourself a favor and rent this movie. WARNING: It is extremely violent and there is some disturbing content, mostly involving drugs.
