Earlier today I had the privilege of attending the first screening in Washington State of the Oscar winning documentary Undefeated, directed by TJ Martin, who attended the screening (as seen above). He even brought his Oscar!! He is a Western Alum, and the room was beaming with proud professors and students. He is the first Western Alum to win an Oscar……….beating me to it! 🙂
Coming from a person who does not particularly love football……………this film was incredible! It received a standing ovation, lasting several minutes long. The audience laughed, cried, and cheered. It truly is a powerful and inspiring film.
I knew within the first few minutes of the film that it was worth the oscar it received. The way the music played while the credits rolled, the way the scenes cut from one to another……..it was flawless. The way each character’s story was captured allowed the audience to become attached and feel for each and every one. It was a wonderful mix of comedy, drama, and emotion.
At times, I almost forgot that it was a documentary. It flowed similar to that of a fictional sports movie………….such as The Blind Side or Friday Night Lights. I think anyone would enjoy this film. It did not contain any adult content or language and it is a great family film. If this film does not inspire you, then I am not sure what will.
Well done Mr. Martin. Well done!
MY FINAL SAY: GO SEE IT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!
