Hello everyone! This is my first review on my new site. Visit sixechojnz.livejournal.com for older posts.
Fright Night…….where shall I begin? It is a movie about vampires. The awesome ones, not the stupid ones like in Twilight. These actually burst into flames in the sun (they don’t sparkle). Anyway, I have not seen the original Fright Night, so this will be a real review not tainted by expectations or disappointments, and not compared to anything (the way I think all movies should be viewed).
I enjoyed this film a lot……..probably much more than it deserved. It was weird, it was gory, it was cheesy, it was funny, it was intense, it was entertaining. I think people who like this genre will enjoy it. This is the kind of vampire movie I want to see. A violent, suspenseful, funny, horror movie. This is not a cheesy romance, with people who can’t act.
Colin Farrell is pretty badass (as usual) as the head honcho vampire, and has an equally badass co-star Anton Yelchin who proves that their are actually young stars out there with talent. And of course there is a hot chick (Imogen Poots) who you might not actually hate. Add a little McLovin’ (Christopher Mintz Plasse) and you have a fun horror movie.
The effects were pretty cool (and creepy), the soundtrack was insanely good (end credits song……….on repeat right now), and the plot was interesting. It was sort of like Disturbia……….except the neighbor happened to be a vampire who kills people, rather than just a plain old psycho human.
MY FINAL SAY: RENT IT. IT’S FUN.
End credits song: Hugo – 99 Problems (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmy113gMds0)
Rated R (f-bombs………yes. Violence/gore………definitely)
